Have you ever been going about your day...and all of a sudden "an act of kindness" by another, interrupts it? Taking you by surprise...time seems to pivot in that very moment doesn't it?
Maybe turning the bad day you started with, into a smile and thankfulness? Or feeling like someone sees you, and that you matter? Or causes you to see the good in life and in people? An act truly free, with no strings attached but powerful in its giving.
Many of times, I have been the recipient of someone's "act of kindness". Notice here, "act" of kindness. It is more than just a kind word...or other pleasantries...Biblical kindness is: a selfless, compassionate, and merciful virtue that is rooted in God's love. It is more than just being nice but is shown through actions and thoughtful deeds.
The power lies in the demonstration of the kindness of God. Whenever people see the love of God in action, something deep takes place within them. I am convinced they feel God's Presence, even if they cannot articulate it at the time.
When we step out and help someone with an act of kindness, we find God's favor and grace in time of need. Jesus modeled this for us, He didn't send His love, He brought His love to those that were in need. Giving of His time to be with people right where they were at, and then responding in love with action to move them forward. Providing food with no expectations of repayment, stopping for the one who is being overlooked, and much much more. He overflowed in kindness wherever He went, touching the lives of multitudes.
❤️Maybe you already live your life this way because you too, have been the recipient of true kindness and know the power that lies within. But for those who maybe want to step out for the first time or a little more...I encourage you God will meet you there. Ask Him to put people on your path and ideas to bless them. Get ready to see Him move through you in ways you never thought possible, bringing His love in the power of kindness!
His Words:
I John 3:18-Little children, let us not love with word or with tongue, but in deed and truth.
Luke 6:35-But love your enemies, and do good, and lend, expecting nothing in return; and your reward will be great, and you will be sons of the Most High; for He Himself is kind to ungrateful and evil men.
Ephesians 4:32-“Be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving each other, just as in Christ God forgave you.”
Acts 20:35-In all things I have shown you that by working hard in this way we must help the weak and remember the words of the Lord Jesus, how he himself said, ‘It is more blessed to give than to receive.’
