Strongholds of the Enemy
Have you ever had a thought or feeling that seemingly came out of nowhere? One of fear? rage? rejection? hopelessness? condemnation? or maybe something about God? He is mad at you? There is no God? etc...We have a real enemy and he is always looking for a way to create a "belief system" in our minds that combats the knowledge of God's truth. This is called a "stronghold".
2 Corinthians 10:4-5- For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal but mighty in God for pulling down strongholds, casting down arguments and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God, bringing every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ.
Strongholds of God
Often times the stronghold, or strong tower in times of battle was positioned at the top of a hill. This gave an elevated vantage point and the people were able to see from a broader point of view, giving early warning of approaching enemies. Of course being used as a place of protection it was also used as a place of provision, having food and supplies ready to go when the situation arose.
Psalm 18:1-2- I will love You, O Lord, my strength. The Lord is my rock and my fortress and my deliverer; My God, my strength, in whom I will trust; My shield and the horn of my salvation, my stronghold.
Psalm 27:1- The Lord is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear? The Lord is the stronghold of my life; of whom shall I be afraid?
Proverbs 18:10- The name of the Lord is a strong tower; The righteous run to it and are safe.
❤️ Just like the physical place of a stronghold in a time of battle was used to gain a view on higher ground, we too, can run to Jesus to gain His perspective from where He sits. He is our strong tower, and has everything we need. The next time the enemy tries to sneak up the sides of the hill to gain access to your mind, will or emotions, position yourself in The STRONGHOLD of GOD where we already have the victory!
