In today's busy world we have gotten used to the general "passer-by" greeting of "How are you?" With which we usually get the same response of, "I'm good", " I'm fine", "Doing great"...or even "Good, how are you?" to which we answer..."Good", "Great", "I'm fine"...
But what if we asked one more question?
I am reminded of a time in my life several years ago, when things were not going as planned. Although I knew God was with me and He promised to get me through the storm I was currently in, I asked Him to show me His comfort.
It was a Sunday morning right after church service, everyone seemed to be making lunch plans, catching up from the past week and looking forward to the next... and amongst the casual greetings...I was on the brink of tears. As I was making my way through the crowd, my eyes were locked on the exit. I knew if I was asked one more question...I would not be able to hold in the tears any longer.
All of a sudden, a young lady, about 13 years of age, came up to me and asked how she could pray for me? And gave me the biggest hug. I knew the Lord sent His comforter in that moment, and it felt as if His arms were holding me. The discouragement lifted as His strength embraced me.
His Words...
2 Corinthians 1:3-4- Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies and God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our affliction so that we will be able to comfort those who are in any affliction with the comfort with which we ourselves are comforted by God.
John 14:26- But the Helper (comforter), the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, he will teach you all things and bring to your remembrance all that I have said to you.
❤️Maybe someone came to mind as you were reading this, and God is going to use you to bring comfort to them through "one more question" that leads to genuine comfort. Or, maybe you are needing comfort yourself right now.
May this encourage you, that God is the ultimate Comforter, but the ministry of His Comfort comes in many different shapes and sizes.
