Isaiah 40:31- Yet those who wait for the Lord, will gain new strength; they will mount up with wings like eagles, they will run and not get tired, they will walk and not become weary.
I know like many of you, this verse has been such an inspiration in my life. Powerful truths straight from God’s Word that come alive in us as we are reminded to truly wait on God and receive His strength in the midst of the unknown. But what is waiting?
Waiting on God is not a passive position that we take up, like binge watching our favorite tv series on the couch. Patience becomes active endurance, positioning our hearts with expectancy and trust, quieting our soul in His Presence, that we can clearly hear from God. When we have been with God, there is evidence. We may walk in with fear…but leave in faith and hope. God gives great value to the process.
James 1:2-4- Consider it all joy, my brethren, when you encounter various trials, knowing that the testing of your faith produces endurance. And let endurance have its perfect result, so that you may be perfect and complete, lacking in nothing.
The phrase “lacking in nothing” brought me to another verse.
Psalm 23:1- The Lord is my Shepherd; I shall not want.
David is referring to the Lord’s provision, yes, but could it also be an indication of his heart’s posture as well? His attitude that “he shall not want”, that there is nothing more that can add to him in this life. No matter the things that come his way, the unknowns, the trials. He has found his fulfillment in God alone.
❤️ I take great comfort in knowing that God is faithful and completes the work He started in us. As Isaiah 40:31 states He gives new strength through it all. What a beautiful picture of mounting up with wings like eagles, above the storms of life, fully trusting God. Before we know it, we are no longer asking “how much longer?” …but freely soar above it all in “lacking nothing”. ~ love u
